My leukemia's back.

Hi all.

We were up bright and early to get down to Coastal for the chick give away. Each got 5 pullet chicks, so that's like 37 I think in the brooder. Well, 36, cause I lost one of the little Brahma babies

. first one I've lost. so I've been pretty happy about that.

Just plugging away at getting some chores done. Honey and Echo are out getting a load of gravel for our parking pad, to help combat the mud. Otherwise, not much exciting going on.

Still no stinking baby goat(s).

Purebreds. They had 500 chicks, a mix of white Leghorns, Amberlinks, gold sex links and New Hampshires....I think that was all the breeds, anyway.

since I got mine mainly to resell, I just asked the lady to pick some healthy looking chicks. She gave me sex links. Honey got a mix of white birds (Leghorns or Amberlinks) and sex links. The Reds seemed to be very popular, they were almost out when we got there. fine by me, I don't really care for red chickens anyway.

We got this same deal last year and I was very happy with the birds. I sold most of them, I kept 2 white Leghorn hens cause you just can't beat those ladies for churning out eggs

. I've got one in a pen with a silkie rooster and collecting eggs, to check the sex linkage of leg color with that cross I read about years ago here. I've got the other one in with my Marans cockerels, I want to see what you get when you cross a white egger with a dark brown egger. So many crosses, so little pen space!

they had a tub of EE, with a lot of blue looking chicks. I was kind of tempted, but they're $4.50 each. I told myself I have a pen of blue, blue eggers and am collecting eggs to set this week.....and they're FREE!

Hi all! Caught up reading everything.... Good to read wonderful things are happening! Baby chicks, cows, goats, etc and new homes! Yea! Sorry haven't been on. So much happening.. got a second job, didn't learn it fast enough, made so mistakes, got fired at 60 days. Meantime my family had the bad stomach flu, the flu and now my special needs dd just got home on O2 after a week in the hospital while my Aspie guy is also dealing with the flu and trying to get his college class work done. Lost about 3 weeks of work over the last 2 moths. Ouch. We will get through this but it was really nice to feel like things were coming out of the dessert for 60 days. I have an interview this Friday for another job and meantime am filling in for an afterschool program with my current job. I would love to stay but it's just above minimum wage with no benefits or pto. No pity needed but do pray, please. Maybe chick fever is coming next to our house?? :jumpy
Good Morning all. Our main telehealth nurse had a death in the family and she's been off this week. I've been filling in about 2-3 hours a day. the work is nice, but it's kind of wearing as the week goes on. I just wish I felt better. Going in for a cardiac echo on Monday and getting set up for pulmonary rehab. Not sure that will help anything, but at least it will let me know what I can expect limit-wise. Hb, I sure hope your interview goes well. You all just need a break! Gloomy so far this morning, we'll see if it burns off and we get some sunshine this afternoon. We've got a goat (Roany) that's due to kid pretty much any time now, so we're on goat watch. Baby goats should be so much fun!
HB, praying for you with the interview tomorrow. Remember.... you are interviewing them also. You want to find out if you are willing to take the job they have to offer! God will send you the right job, and if that's not in His plan, then, He'll meet your needs without an other job. The human body can only stretch so far. My hours are incredibly sporadic. And hubby is cut back to 4 days/week through the winter. Goes back to 5 next month. How we get the bills paid sometimes is a mystery. But, then again, I know it's not really a mystery b/c I know the Man who owns all the cattle on them there hills. Yep, blessed spring. Oh how wonderful: Back into the deep freeze here. Snow persists. Howling winds. I suppose there is a blessing in this: the wind is so strong that the hawk who has taken to perching on the top rail of the chicken run can't hang on! It's spring in the house: too many seedlings. Sweet potato sprouts in pots and in water cups, and more growing on the mother potatoes. Geranium cuttings all over the place, Seedlings to pot up, and more seeds to plant.
Good morning everyone :frow Hope you all enjoy your Friday!
Good morning everyone. LG, you is so smarter!! I honestly thought I was the only one who'd ever gone in for a job interview and came away with a feeling that this might give me paycheck for a time, but it was going to be temporary because I was either to quit or end up getting fired. :he I guess we are indoctrinated to feel like WE have to impress THEM, and we should be willing to change who we are to "get that job". Welcome back, HB.....life has a funny way of taking precedence over the computer and I like it that way! I can leave for a few days, come back and slide right in where I left off - just a few hundred posts behind but catch up is pretty easy. Rachel, waiting for baby goat pics.......
Rachel did they give away some pure bred pullets or just "surprises?"
well well too much to comment on so I won't.... I've been fighting my crappy internet for days. Howdy one and all..... :frow

I remember seeing a post on FB or somewhere about....when you think you're falling in love with someone, give them a slow computer or internet connection before you commit to them....then you'll see the real person you're falling for

something like that....I know issues with the tech brings out the bad side of me, and I'm not sure why. Just so frustrating and I don't know how to fix it, I guess.

I sure thought that goat was looking like she wanted to have babies last night, but nothing....her udder is getting pretty big, though. I"m hoping for twins, that will be enough.

Hi! Believe it or not... I think I will be hired for that job. It's doing security/monitoring/answering/responding to needs of those coming onto the property/calls from residents in a retirement community. One shift a week for 8 hours 11-3 p.m. on Sundays plus subbing in as needed if my schedule allows. The interview was so informal and fast-20 min.!-that when I left I was saying Wow! I think I was just hired a job and It seems like this could work! The older gal was just checking and wanting to get to know me. She said she would be in touch about what other paperwork is needed. So now what and see. Meantime my other job has offered me more hours working with their lower income afterschool program. Thanks for the reminders about God owning the cows! LOL. I have asking him to sell a few! Thanks for the reminder that I am interviewing them as well! That is so important!

TSC gives away chicks???What?? How what when?? I have one near me!

That is fantastic news, HB! So, it sounds like you could potentially do both if you were so inclined - since one is an after school program and the new opportunity is a Sunday shift?

hb, sounds like a great job!

Our message today at church was about trusting God, how we can trust He is powerful enough to have spoken the universe into existence, but we don't trust Him to be powerful enough to mend our lives and see to our needs. I know that's a problem for me....I want to do it myself. I'm like a little toddler or something

.

The chick giveaway was at Coastal, a local chain here on the West Coast. It was only for that one day. Our local Grange had a similar giveaway 2 weeks ago, I think theirs was supposed to last 3 days but they ran out of chicks.
