My leukemia's back.

Good morning everyone. LG, you is so smarter!! I honestly thought I was the only one who'd ever gone in for a job interview and came away with a feeling that this might give me paycheck for a time, but it was going to be temporary because I was either to quit or end up getting fired.

I guess we are indoctrinated to feel like WE have to impress THEM, and we should be willing to change who we are to "get that job".

Welcome back, HB.....life has a funny way of taking precedence over the computer and I like it that way! I can leave for a few days, come back and slide right in where I left off - just a few hundred posts behind but catch up is pretty easy.

Rachel, waiting for baby goat pics.......

I know I was brought up with the impression an interview was to sell myself, never thought to evaluate the company/position when I was younger. It has been something I've thought of some as I've matured a bit, I wonder if that has something to do with it. When you're young, you're just wanting a job, usually, pretty much any job. When you get older, you get a bit more selective.

I just hate job hunting period.

And I don't know if it's me, or the web sites, but the on line applications just give me fits! I"m not the most tech savvy person by far, but they seem to give Honey and Big Boy trouble also. But, everyone's doing them now, so I guess we need to embrace them....or just retire

I'm with you on the online job applications Rachel...hate them! But there doesn't seem to be any way around them any more. It's just so impersonal to have to apply over the computer. As nervous as I'd get doing face to face applications/interviews, I'd much rather do that than fill out an online form and send it off to a faceless someone.

I despise on line applications. Much rather do a face to face. On line, your application goes to some corporate office across the country, then gets sifted before making it back to the place where you actually hope to be working.

Hi everyone, hope you all are enjoying your Saturday!

Rachel, any little goat kid yet?

Oh, do I hear you on that - and there is just no getting around them these days. The state is the worst for those online applications, applied for several during the job search and it took at least half an hour for each one because of all the questions ---- it was more of an interview than an application, and then you still had to go through the interview if you passed through the "minimum requirement screening".

Exactly - that 'pre screen' is all about whether or not the system picks up on the key words they want to see, miss a few of those and you don't even get a second look by an actual human. Honestly, I think it leads to excluding a lot of great candidates and, in the long run, hurts the businesses. I prefer being able to make that face to face, human connection. Seems all the things we were taught about how things work are now a thing of the past, am I officially one of those "back in my day" people now?

Happy Saturday, NFC!
Had a rare sunny start to the day here - took advantage and snuck off to the dog park with Z bright and early --- I think my new job has been the hardest on her, she was used to going to the park every morning after we dropped DS off at school, poor sad puppy. Was a good start to the day for both of us I think.
Have you enjoyed your Saturday?

Hi OGM!

What a nice treat for you and Z to get to the dog park, I'm sure she loved that! I'll be going back to work at the golf course soon and I've already been thinking about our 3 house cats missing me (at least, I think they will).

I have had a nice Saturday. Got a brisket smoking away for hours now for dinner. And I've been working on an entry for an Easter contest, just finished it up. I'm trying to load pictures now (not the easiest thing for me to do).
