Another pretty day in Portland. At least I've got a nice view of a river and Mt Hood!
So, turns out duragesic isn't the best drug for me. I just wan't getting decent lasting relief, even bumping the base and bolus rates up a few times. This am, my wonderful nurse Annie got it changed to Dilaudid instead, and I'm feeling a difference. Sleepy, yes, but not quite so stoned feeling as the duragesic and morhpine had made me feel. The poor muscles in my throat are so sore and tired from trying to swallow crooked they just don't want to work well. I'm giving them a rest for a while, the doc said they'll likely start me in IV nutrition (TPN) this afternoon or in the am. 2 liters of fluid was impossible today, for the whole day I'm at 500cc, give or take.
Also got a boatload of steroids today, to start the anti graft vs host regimine. That's probably helping my mouth not be so swollen and painful. Hey, whatever works, I'll take it!
On the chicken front....honey told me we have a new layer. He's getting pullet size dark blue/green eggs--his description, I've not seen a pic yet--so it must be my sole surviving crested cream Legbar! I'm so excited! He said we also have 2 dark brown eggers, when I thought there was only one. The story on the barred/cuckoo birds......
I'd ordered barred Holland from Ideal to start my blue sexlinks that lay blue eggs project last May. When my chicks are a week or so old, I'm at the Grange and they've got 5 cuckoo Marans. Okay, blue sex links that lay Olive eggs...I can do that! Bought them and brooded them all togeher. Well, with the stupid smart barn cats I lost several barred chicks
As they matured only one looked to be cuckoo, not barred, and have the white skin. I don't know what's going on, but he says he's been getting two dark brown eggs daily for a few days.
I'll have to get one of the boys to send me pics.
Rachel, when my hubby was on TPN, he lovingly called it Tacos, Pizza and Nachos! Sounds like you've got a nice little breeding project going on... Green/blue egg laying sex links. Mine are EE roo x PBR hens. This year's sex links will be EE x Dominique and SLW. Praying for better days ahead.
