I've been a nurse for 25 years and had never heard of a viral UTI. Apparently they're pretty limited to transplant patients and antibiotics are useless. They cut the prednisone down yesterday to allow my immune system to start fighting the virus, but apparently it can still take a few weeks. They can only taper the steroids so fast without risking graft vs host, which I don't want. So, basically I need to just suck it up and deal with it.
Blooie, sorry things are sluggish for your girl. ANC was something else I'd never dealt with. Never worked oncology at all. You get leukemia, that number is your lifeline. It says when you get chemo, when you can eat certain things, when you get to go home, everything. Praying her system rebounds for her next round of chemo.
Day 40!!!! And honestly, if this infection is the worst thing that happens, woo hoo!
