My leukemia's back.

Hmmm. Pigs and poo . . . . .

Where's Mike Rowe when you need him?

Rachel get one of those big patio umbrellas that comes with a stand. Have the boys move it around when you need it. You probably only need to be out doing a big shades worth of work in one pop anyway. Then close it up for the rest of the day so your plants get sun.

I don't know about pig manure, but tilled in after being aged for a year you'd think it would be fine to plant in. The arbor is a great idea, and you could cover it with shade cloth until your plants cover the top. It would give you instant shade and a place you could rest and pace yourself (While you wait for your peach tree to grow to a nice size!)

Hoping for a clean biopsy report!

I'm not positive, but I don't think that pig dung is as 'hot' as most manures. This graft/host 'interaction' - is this going to be a lifetime situation or only in the initial 'healing' stages?

The sunburn risk is a forever thing from my understanding. Not sure if there's anything else that could trigger a reaction. That would probably be a good question, right? I've been so focused on making it through these first 100 days, I've not thought ahead a whole lot. Time to start doing that, only 37 more days!!

Rachel, I don't get onto your thread very often, but every time I do, it's a huge blessing to ME! Girl, you are making such wonderful progress!!! Regarding your gardening: The patio umbrella is a wonderful idea. Just be sure it's heavy enough to block enough of the sun's rays. Also, if you go out during the early morning and very late afternoon, early evening, that will allow you to get your gardening fix with minimized risk. Save mid day for some indoor project that will bring you pleasure, so that you don't feel that that indoor time is a punishment. You could also set up some benches on each side of the house, so you could move around as the shade travels around the yard. I think your peach tree would do great in your piggy spot! I had a Reliance peach once. And while it didn't live very long, it produced fantastic peaches. The kind that drips down your elbow when you bite into it.

Regarding Blooie's chocolate coated nutty pill clusters... that's why we all love her so much. She can take a not pleasant situation, and turn it into a smile. I love you Blooie!!!

Hi Rachel! What about the UV rashboard/ sun protection shirts? One of mine wears one because of the higher risk for cancer that she has and it comfortably covers her well. I would ask for suggestions on that! You may need to garden in the evening to avoid sunburning. I would ask if the meds also increase your sensitivity.
Team Rachel,
Anyone else have any good ideas? Can you UV Proof your clothes by soaking them in something like you do for bugs? What other options for shade are there? Moving arbors??? Awnings? Umbrella hats? Mexican Sombreros?
