My leukemia's back.

Hi all. I hate being on my phone. I'm spoiled by my desktop lol. Anyway, should have electric guys out today and maybe back with power. But won't have internet until Friday.
Didn't have any eggs set but I lost a lot of 2-3 week old chicks. Just couldn't keep them warm enough I guess. We had them in by the wood stove, but they just keep dropping like flies. I had so much else going on, it was a lot of stress.

So, just waiting for the magic guys to come out.

Oh, Rachel, I am so sorry about the chicks you have lost......what happened that caused the power loss? I hope they get you back up and running today.

Just dropping by to say good morning and Rachel, hope we get to see you back (fully powered) today!

We have POWER! and INTERNET!!!

So, long story---I went to my Mom's on Monday. Tuesday I'm at lunch with her and my sister. Get a phone call from Big Boy. He and Echo were home for lunch and heard a crash and the power went out. There was a dead cottonwood tree we'd been telling the neighbors they needed to take care of. Well, it took care of itself. The top broke off and fell in our driveway, took out our power/internet lines running from the main pole to our private pole. Damaged the pole and the meter box also.

Now, talk about God looking out for us. Could easily have fallen on the house. Or the garage. Nope, fell in the driveway. Right where we normally have our Chevy parked. It's our garbage truck we use only for dump runs. But we'd moved it. I park my van next to that, but I was out of town. The boys were going to park the Corolla in that spot when they came home for lunch, but decided not to. So, the tree didn't damage any vehicles, etc. just the power pole.

We did lose some food in the freezers. Lost almost 2 dozen baby chicks. Honestly, that's about it. We purchased a generator, always wanted one anyway

. Showered at the YMCA for a few days. Got power back last night, internet back today. I can't express how much I love both my washing machine and my dishwasher

. Well, doing dishes by hand isn't that big a deal, but we didn't have running water. I swear, each of The Locusts flushed the toilet 4 times last night, just for the novelty of it.

But, I"m now thinking of having BlackOut Night once a week. It was nice having all the electronics off. We played Scrabble, and some Farkle. We have Taboo we enjoy and a game called Malarkey I've never played but sounds fun, like Balderdash. Other things have been going on with the boys making me think we need to be spending more time together, and games like that are a good anchor for just hanging out and reconnecting.

Rachel, so glad to hear everyone (and the house, vehicles, etc.) is safe and you're back up and running. Love the idea of a Blackout Night! Sounds like a great way of spending time together and having fun.

Well, here's hoping. There's been a lot going on with the boys I was unaware of. Took a real hit in the Momma heart, finding out things were going on under my nose and I literally had no clue. So, some thing apparently need to change. Spending more time together is not a complete answer, but it's never a bad thing.

I am still grateful for running hot water. God is good!!!!!

Not a whole lot else going on. Working on general clean up when Honey is home. Praying for the right property to come along. Breathing has leveled out, seems to be stable. I realized it's not too far from my 2 year mark from the transplant--what a ride it's been, right? that will be such a milestone.

Boys will be boys - testosterone is to blame.

Some milestones are good ones. I believe your 2 year anniversary fits into that category.

Sometimes our kids make unwise decisions, we probably all did it too (I know I did). From the stories you've told us, they sound like good kids and as long as you all can talk about stuff, things should work out.

Wow, close to the 2 year mark!?! We'll have to have a party, that's a great anniversary to celebrate
