Glad to hear the oncologist could give you reason to be hopeful! Darn shame the hospital missed those things, serves only to stress you and your family.

If I had to guess, I would say the hospital didn't "miss" those things as much as they ignored them, so they could get more insurance money. I have great insurance coverage. They seemed to ignore that I have been a cancer patient there for years. I can pull up every blood test, CT scan, MRI, Dexa scan, Bone density scan, etc., since 2017, when they put it all on computer. The records on me before Jan. 2017, are hard copies, in their archives, but have not been put on computer.

They had 4 years of records, right there at their fingertips, including my last CT scan which was done 6 months ago to compare to. They didn't do any comparisons. They tried to treat it like it was an initial suspicion of cancer, to be determined with further specialists, and further testing.

When I threatened to go AMA, and check out if they didn't answer some of my questions, that's when they called in the head doctor of the ER. When he came, and discussed it with me, and I told him I had an ongoing history, he went and looked it up. He discovered I have been under the care of one of their own oncologists for years, and he knew I would follow up with my oncologist. He ordered the appropriate meds, and discharged me.

I am absolutely adding my prayers to the others, Clue! And Alaskan, I’m also praying that the tests go well for her!

Seems kinda tacky to add my problems, but I’ve been off a few days because I’ve got stuff going on as well. On the 26th I am having about 2 inches of my colon removed. I’m not looking forward to it but I don’t have a choice. I’ve been trying to keep exceptionally busy to keep my mind off it, but that’s not working. So I guess I’m asking to be added to Rachel’s Waiting Room prayer list.
