Oh, that's a bummer. Well, sounds like she's going good on her own. I think she should go for it in showing the bun at the fair! My daughter (only 8, not in 4-H) is going to enter one of our chickens. The trouble for her is deciding which one!

We go in and register tomorrow-the deadline! One nice thing is DH's sister works at the fair so we can have her peek in when we aren't around and make sure everything is okay. They have someone there to care for them (feed, water) but, it will be reassuring just to have a family member that can check too.
