I haven't gotten an egg from my female cochin just yet, so I don't know.

What is the difference between bantams and standards...we have some we got for 4-H and probably need to know...I assumed ours were bantam as they look the same as the ones posted at the top of this thread.

Here is a couple of pictures of our Cochins. They are 3 months old and I am assuming they are Bantams. I need to know for our 4-H entry form. Also if you know what color they are called, I'd appreciate the information!

Not sure if the buff colored ones are he or she? Is this color Buff?

Hm... Well, the colors are easier than the other questions. The first one is definitely a blue cochin. Here is a picture of my little blue girls, at about 4 months.

So, I'd say that one is a Blue Cochin, though it looks like it might be a little boy. Here is a picture of the faces of two of mine, also at 4 mo. You can tell on your picture how the comb and wattles are more pronounced on the rooster.

The second one looks like a Buff. It looks like it may be a boy, but a month or so it should be much more obvious. Here is a picture of my cochins at about 3 months. The second one from the left is a boy, the rest girls.

As far as bantam vs standard, unfortunately I am not sure. You may want to post on the 'Breeds, Genetics & Showing' forum. There are a lot of very smart, experienced people on there that will probably be able to help you with that one.

Hope this helps!
