I mistakenly followed the wrong advice and started my ducklings on layer feed too early. I caught it but its been about two weeks. There doesn't seem to be any issues other then I think one may have slightly sour crop but shes pooping, eating and drinking. It seemed the poop was slightly less then normal. Im treating the sour crop and Ive switched the feed back to starter grower for ducklings. Has anyone done the same stupid mistake as me??

It is not uncommon for people to feed layer earlier than ideal since it is often a cheaper feed. Studies have shown issues with feeding extra calcium to none laying birds, but that is from a build up over time. It sounds like you are trying to do what's best for your ducks. Sorry your girl ended up with sour crop.

Many have. No long term health concerns from brief exposure in mostly adult birds.
