My lone hen is crowing...need some input, please!

There is nothing wrong with the hen and she isn't a "lesbian" or "mixed up."

One of the reasons roosters crow is to call the other members of the flock and make sure everyone stays together. When no rooster is present, the alpha hen will take over this job. If she was alone, she was probably trying to contact other chickens; chickens are, by nature, extremely social creatures and prefer to be a member of a flock. Once you introduce her to a flock, if there is a rooster, he will most likely assume the role of flock leader and he will take over the crowing and flock-leading duties.

You can eat a hen who crows, but you don't have to kill her because she is crowing. Just find her some chicken friends.

Thanks so much for the input. THe poor little dear woke up crowing againg this morning. It sounds like I have an exotic bird or something because when she crows, she sounds really weird, lol.
One more question, is it true that if you add new chickens to your flock at night they won't be as likely to fight?? That is what I was told. I just really don't want Mrs Prissy to get beat up or anything.
