GAMEFOWL sell for high prices because the lines are known to produce good stock. It is not because of their athletic abilities since that practice is now illegal.

Why must everyone assume the worst of gamefowl breeders?

I agree. Those are being sold as fighters. Those may be being sold as breeders that come from great fighting stock. I have seen my fair share of those birds.

This again is what totally makes me sick. Just because the bird has a high price labeled on it's head doesn't mean it's going as a fighter. I raise gamefowl myself and they are bred for preservation as well as alot of gamefowl folk now do. We do SHOW the breeds not FIGHT the birds..c'mon people with the fight talk..get a grip!

No different than selling silkies for $200 on eggbid..geez!

jbowyer, that's what I thought, but I was told by another person that it's when there's a "fight" about fighting that the moderators shut it down.

I was confused about it as well...I'm still not certain about the entire rule about the fighting discussions.

Gamefowl are shown at shows just like any other breed. Any champion bloodline is going to bring top dollar. I am a newbie gamefowl breeder and have absolutely no intention of letting harm come to my birds by using them for blood sport. I have silkies too but the games are no more expensive then silkies of top bloodlines. And the eggs are larger and the birds are hardier.
