I’m surprised she didn’t come on in and start pinching you. :lau That would have been a rude awakening.
Had i not woken up by her really LOUD bleating, she would definitely had come into the house and pinched me. With age (she is over 2 now) she has calmed down somewhat, now the swedish girls are the cheeky ducks, PomPom is boldest! :lau

That is sad, but a very real part of our lives back then. Thing is, back then when we didn’t have smorgasbords available, but we also didn’t have all the “extras.” To put it in today’s terms, that means there may not have been a lot of food available, but we also didn’t have name brand shoes, high dollar bikes, and definitely no high dollar phones! Agree?
I remember not being unhappy at all as a kid: We had friends! I mean real persons, not virtual fake-book friends.
And i remember those times were a little less stressful and we got enough sleep: »Mom, just one more page! - No, its lights out! Sleep well.«

That’s another thing I’m upset about, my duckies do not like being held much anymore. Well, more like not at all. When I do get one up in my arms, unfortunately I’m not able to hold them too long. They all know how to make me put them down... quickly! They will squeeze out a big old sh** and it manages to get all over me — on my top and then down onto my shorts. The last poop managed to run into my shorts pocket where my phone was.

And Ralphie, Ralphie Dux that is, has started following me, running up behind me and then speeding up to pass me and run in front of me. He has also then tried to nibble my toes. What the ......? He’s a tad touched, I believe. I assume that is normal, though aggravating, behavior.
All my ducks don't like to be touched or picked up! - But they also love to be around me and eat treats out of my hand. And they are commenting on everything that i am working on outside. There is always at least one duck around me when i'm outside. Guess they have realized this ol' drake needs permanent supervision because he always in danger to harm himself.
Toe nibbling? - That is a sign of love! - I guess. Blanca and Bazilla always try to arrange those stubborn "feathers" on my legs when i'm sitting with them on the grass.

I honestly think there were a lot of things right about those times. But I think a lot of the bad things just went unnoticed. With technology today, it seems like little to nothing gets by without notice.
I think it affects everything; the way we think and deal with emotions; the sense of entitlement kids are being raised into.
I grew up pretty fortunate but my mom and her family moved to the U.S. from the Azores when she was 13. Growing up and seeing how they lived taught me a lot.
Not even just the culture but they came here and made a living working in dairies and farms. They're all pretty successful people to this day, whether it's in labor or business.

That thing with brand shoes, high dollar bikes and expensive phones never caught up to me. I never even had a pair of brand shoes (or any other clothing article) in all my life. Yes, i now own a Sumsang phone, but i got it for "free" from TT&A… Never had an "ey-phone" or anything else from Pear - prices appear blown up to me, compared to the quality.
And i always explain to my customers that 'being on the bloody edge of technology" always comes with painful experiences. And the majority of my customers were happy that they have listened to me.

Sounds like my ducklings. They will follow me, nibble my toes, but run when I try to reach for them. We coexist with love and treats at the moment.

Absolutely correct! - For nothing in the world would i abandon Goggle Maps and navigation, but that avalanche of (fake-)news and meaningless communication can go where the sun never shines. 😜

That's the way ducks are! - Even with each other, grown up ducks rarely cuddle or lay close together. - Except for broody ducks and their ducklings.

I am the same way. I have a smaller closet than my husband; less clothes all together compared to just his shirts alone. I grew up pretty fortunate, always had what we needed and a lot of what we wanted (within limits). But I never cared for the expensive name brands. My sister on the other hand... she loves her name brands.
I will buy a purse at Walmart for $10 and use it until it falls apart. She will buy at least 2 coach purses that cost well over $400 each (if not more), and they will sit in her closet because she doesn't want to lose their value. But that's her thing, I can respect it if even I don't feel the same way.
