That looks like a real yard! - Here it looks more like the mud-flats, especially in winter. :sick
Exactly! As I’ve said before, there’s nothing really pretty about my yard. Just an old country yard where whatever wants to grow, or not grow, grows. As in the case up on the hill in front of the coops and run, sticks, rocks, leaves and hickory nuts. My poor chicks and ducks!

I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but I think all four of my girls are possibly laying.

Two days ago there was a little bitty blue/green egg (for the life of me I can’t decide the color cause it looks different in different lights) in the nest next to Petey’s whopper. It was much smaller than even what Hershey had been laying.
Then yesterday, there was a smaller creamy colored egg in the nest next to Petey’s.
I know the smaller creamy egg is a new layer, it has to be since Petey also laid that day. But the other little egg could also be a new layer or Hershey laying a much smaller egg.

Here is the picture (clockwise from Petey’s big old egg): new little bitty colored egg; Hershey’s normal egg; new creamy egg laid at same time as Petey’s.

I find it funny that in the chicken world, it’s all about the color of the eggs a hen lays. Do you want white eggs, brown eggs, blue eggs, or green eggs? But when looking at ducks I’ve never seen it mentioned. I had no idea what color eggs my ducks were gonna lay. The only two not laying were my WH and my Buff. Any hints on which girl laid the other creamy egg and if one of the two could possibly lay me another blue/green egg?

And if any of you know of a duck or chicken that lays a golden egg, please share it with me. I’d pay pretty good money for one of those! Surely a golden egg isn’t limited to just a goose!!! :lau :lau

My ducks would kill for your yard (and it would be stripped bare in a matter of days, no matter what you've got going on!).

Its lovely - its also inspired me to do more with mine (somehow, in a way they cannot destroy....)

Crikey ! Petey knows how to lay (eggs, not the hot girl action. Keep it clean people !).

Too funny! You need to meet up with @The Moonshiner. If I remember a post of his correctly (a while back) I think y’all’s style of writing would complement each other. I’ll say no more as to not have a moderator edit or delete my post. :lau:lau

Well thank you so much. I try, but.....

I will say my dang ducks have stripped some of my planted that my chickens never even looked at. They also managed to wiggle underneath the netting I have up to keep the dogs and chickens out of my flower beds. The chickens have sometimes flown over into them, but the beds are a bit too crowded for safe landings and quick hop overs aren’t easy either. The ducks though, hmmmph, they’ve just plowed under it. I’ve scared the bejeesus out of them and also tightened up the netting, but I had to put boards and old long empty flower pots alongside the netting to really keep them out. My ducks just act like they own the place! How dare them. :gig

Ha ! Mine do that too ! I've come into find a row of duck bottoms, wagging tails and all, sticking out from under garden liners (the little madams !).

Apparently its where all the bugs are, and if we don't give them exactly what they want, when they want it, they have total rights to menace the garden.....
