To quote a nutrition book that I am currently reading: In large doses, it [niacin]produces a rush of blood to the skin surface with a flush and an associated tingling, painful sensation that is unmistakable. (Nutrition Concepts and Controversies; Third Edition; Hamilton, Whitney, Sizer) (I hope that I wrote that right -- I don't usually do quotes and such). I dunno about melting snow for five meters around oneself, but it certainly sounds like it'd be uncomfortable and unpleasant.B4 i gave the Niacin to my Spring Ducklings last year i tried it myself: Took about ½ gram in a cup of tea - Niacin tastes like Vitamin C. About 30 Minutes later i was glowing and my skin was itching. Went outside half naked to cool off (February!) and the snow melted 5 meters around me…
Don't know if duckies have the same reaction, some nights there was a strange light over the brooder in my office…
As with Vitamin C, you (almost!) can't overdose using common sense.
