On my way back to the house I heard some honking so I started recording. I was too far away to really see which one was ‘carrying on’ (that’s Southern slang for acting up, which is Southern slang for causing a ruckus.) :gig

Earlier though, I did see Hershey honking, so it may have been her. That leaves Quinny the only one still peeping and not honking yet, to my knowledge anyway.

Latte is just a ‘noticeable’ bird’. I can’t remember who said it, but someone said she would be my favorite and I think she’ll wind up with that label...but I won’t let the others know!

I’ll have to sit down and see if we see eye to eye. I just love it when Latte stands tall. Hershey does as well, but with her being so dark she’s not as noticeable.

When any of the ducks stand straight up (I mostly notice this when they’re preening) their knees look like they are hyperextended and about to pop out the front. It’s a bit scary looking.

Believe it or not - no Northern haters now - but my ducks will never see ice. We may see a few icy patches on the roads once or twice a winter, but that would be all.

That reminds me, when we lived in Massachusetts (I was in the 3rd and 4th grades), my dad built me a little skating rink in the back yard. He dug a hole in the snow, lined it with plastic, filled it with water and wah-lah, almost an overnight skating rink. Now those were the days...no worries, all fun! I still have my skates too! They are about 53 years old! Good Lord that’s old! They don’t make stuff like that anymore.
No ice, that's a ducks' life! My duckies were horrified when their pond froze after that first winter and dove in as soon as it started to melt  I was worried they'd freeze hahah - snow or ice - they didn't want to stay inside!

They're getting so big! If they haven't already, soon they'll realize how loud they can get and start hollering whenever they need something

That’s just wrong, Dux destroying the peace and quiet solitude of winter.

What now? Everybody has moved to the Broodies Babies thread?
No news on Petey, Hershey, Latte, Peaches and Quinny?
:hit
Oh yes, the news would be:

They have a new love! It’s not me though. It’s the out of doors and their POOL.:hit

So far they have stayed in the pool 90% of the day, only coming out to grab a bite to eat and then hitting the pool again. Right now they are all sleeping, bills under their wings. Every once in a while one or two will grunt or whatever that noise is called. The only way I know which one did it is by the little vibration rings around the body.

They are soooooo content. It makes me jealous. I want to be a duck...eat, sleep, waddle, swim.
