My Love Affair With Ducks...

You have no idea what will happen with the duck-pool: They will splash the water to you precious lawn to create puddles and use those to drill for crude-oil.
My duck-yard looks like a huge golfball…

They've already gone to town around my little pool that's' in the middle of the dirt spot in our yard. Looks like a toddler went at it with a tiny shovel. I really like the golf ball analogy. Not to mention that ALL of our plants are being trimmed to "duck height" which I suppose is nice for now, lol. It's why I want the pond so it will at least be in the corner, and I can pump out the poo and skim the feathers they leave in here. That and keeping that water clean means emptying the pool every few days and that's a PAIN for sure.

Are you not under some water restrictions in SoCal?

At least you have some plants left, i started to grow fodder too late and my girls have eaten every available bit of green in the duckyard. I'm afraidi will have to sow new grass next spring…

I hand empty the pool water with a bucket and water on our lawn and garden with it, every 4 or 5 days. Our water usage is restricted so I no longer water with a sprinkler (front yard is just dirt at this point). So it's an extra pain since I have to water my yard with buckets!

I keep reading your name as Eaten4life. :lau

Yep. that is what my Norbie goes through (painful pin feathers for sure) whereas my chicken don't LOOK like they do (they'll lose their tails which is kind of funny to see). She is BEAUTIFUL by the way.

And fortunately The wife and I both love our birds (I'm more of the duck lover, she's more of the chicken lover). I never thought I'd ever have to "rinse" my grass, but here we are.. Watering down the poop left behind by sleeping ducks by the pool. . . I can't wait for my duck pond I'm getting next month. It will make everything so much easier to keep clean!!
Oh, do tell about the duck pond you’re getting! I am all ears. 😁

Oh and this is what happens when I leave the slider open for too long. They come asking for snacks.

If you "forget" to leave the sliding door open, do they knock?
During the Summer, when my patio door is open, Katharina Duck sometimes jumps on the patio, walks up to the kitchen-door and taps at it. Sounds a bit like a woodpecker…
