My mail lady did a drive by drop off!!!!!

I would not continue to bring up the fact the eggs broke and the chicks were killed. Odds are that will either have them saying the eggs broke somewhere else in shipping or that you should not be shipping something live in that form and end up with usps refusing others egg shipments. There are already some post offices that refuse to send out things like that.

Instead I would concentrate on the fact she was driving unsafe and throwing packages out the window irregardless of what the package is. The dangerousness of the situation and disregard for proper procedure will get you alot farther than tears over smashed eggs. It does not matter what was in the package. It matters about how it was handled and the improper behavior of the mail carrier. A calm head and facts will get you better results than tears and trying to make them feel guilty. Winning by making other feel guilty just causes them to want to strike back and not help you. Winning by proving them completely wrong according to the rules and laws makes people want to keep you happy and change things so they don't get in trouble. I doubt throwing packages out windows is what mail carriers are taught is the proper way to deliver a package. That's what I'd concentrate on pointing out.

I agree. I asked at my P.O. if they would hold some eggs I have coming in the next few days. They said they could stick one of those papers for held items in the box. I told them these are eggs that can't sit at the post office all weekend, if they were to come on Saturday!! So they took my number, so we'll see. Their excuse for tyng my eggs to the mailbox is that the house is over 1/2 mile from the road. It is not even close!! It wouldn't even be 1/2 mile to the house and back out to the road! The mailman is just lazy! It's not like it is so much trouble to drive up here, or in this case, would it have killed her to stop and open her door to SET it on the ground?

Hi Guys & Gals!!!! I am sooo happy right now!!! I jsut received a phone call from the manager of consumer affairs and she is NOT happy, and she said definite action will be taken!! HOORAY!!! And she even apologized, that made me feel better, at least someone finally apologized!!! And to whoever gave the link to this site to her, I give you a very BIG THANK YOU!!!! She said she saw the link and all the posts, so I thank ALL of you for your help, I don't want to give you guys a complex or anything, but all of you ROCK!!!!!! I LOVE BACKYARD CHICKENS.COM!!!!!! I really really do!!!!!

The main complaint is this:

Okay, so I ordered some eggs from a great woman on here who packaged these eggs perfectly, and sent them so that I had them within 2 business days of shipping them!!! AWESOME!! What is not so awesome is the fact the hubby and I left work early(we work together, he owns his own business) We wanted to be here before the mail came. Well, I saw the mail carrier at my mailbox, then I saw her start to pull in the d-way, so I ran out in my socks to get my package!! Well, she was doing about 20 miles an hour and threw my box out of her window!!!!!!! She didn't even stop!!! Can you believe it????? All but 6 eggs were smashed to pieces!!! There were 15 eggs!!! I heard the box hit the cement and was saying out loud NO,NO,No! The box was on its side on the cement, I was soooo MAD!!!! Heres some pics of what my mail carrier delivered to me!! I was literally crying!!

This is what the postmaster had to say:

It didn't go well, back to crying again!!! The post master says " I think they broke in transit" she tried to say she had eggs on all the packages yesterday, my eggs must have leaked so I brought the box down to show her there was not any egg on the box whatsoever!!! Once she saw the box, she tried to say something else. I told her these may be "just" eggs to you, but these were babies to me and my children. By this time I was bawling my eyes out. I just don't get it. I told her what happened to the saying "do unto others"???? Doesn't that mean anything anymore??? How would she be doing if I chucked her out the window??? I have some eggs coming from some truly kind people on here. So that helps, but it's still just not right by any means. I guess its back to calling the main P/O, Like I told her this is not done by any means. And the mail lady is now banned from my driveway. I don't trust her driving through, I have children who ride bikes, etc. in the driveway. Thanks for everyones concern, I will keep you all posted!!!!



This is just horrible disrespect for a human being’s property and this situation needs to be looked into. If I performed my job this way I would be fired immediately, no questions asked.

You know whats funny, is this could have been easier if I just got an apology at least, but I didn't until today. But now this turned into a bigger thing. I can't beleive all the help from everybody on here. No-ones ever had my back before like you guys have!!! I am still in shock. You all are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
