My male duck died

Hey hiiii. they get used to each other. but there is a problem. the old duck had long nudged the new duck to climb on it in the water. now he's trying to ride the new duck. trying to mate

That is not a problem, its completely normal for female ducks to "mate" with eachother when there is no drake present. So glad they are getting along!!

We want a drake for Female duck. But my sister doesnt. She still so much miss him. She cries everyday.

I understand. I have had my precious ducks pass away as well, and my ducks and I have also grieved. We love them so much that it takes along time to feel more comfortable.

Just remember if you decide to get a drake he will probably mate with the female ducks when they don't want to.

Yes, a lot of male ducks will over mate females, that's why it is recommended to have at least 3 or more females per male duck that you have.

I don't keep a drake because I can't tolerate my female ducks being overmated. But, my understanding is that yes, most drakes not only mate every day but many times per day.

I don't mean it. Yes I know ducks mate a lot.But our girl duck climbs above the other girl every day.Wouldn't it be better to buy a drake

I have 3 girls and they climb on top of each other every day as well. With my girls both ducks always head bob up and down to agree before the mating happens.

Most drakes seem much more forceful. I have seen and heard of a lot of drakes chasing females, grabbing their necks and jumping on their backs even if the female doesn't want to. Of course we have some BYC members who report that their drakes are much better behaved.

If you do choose to add a drake I agree with SolarDuck that it would be best to add more female ducks as well. The choice is entirely up to you. You should do what you think is best.

Agreed with everything Kale said, personally I don't think you will be better off with a male, but if you really want one be sure to pick up 2 or 3 more female ducks as well.
