My male emu finally made a nest !!!

Hope that helped some..... it was covered with leaves but when he sets on them they come off and when he gets up he recovers them. His nest is in a corner of the fence line, made were we felled some trees. Right behind my Great Pyrnees sleeping spot ( smart emu ) . There were plenty of bushy places that would have been better hidden, but mine like corners........

Do broody emus get as mean as broody chickens? I don't think I'd wamt to take away an egg from a mad daddy emu, you're braver than I!

i don't know, but he doesn't come after me so far, only the other emus..... unfortunately he made his nest 20 ft away from the emu feeder..... so he's been running everyone off. Might have to put a screen up so the others can eat.

I have moved mine from the small breeding area I had last year. The area is now for my sulcata tortoises . So they inhabit the back area which is nearly an acre and a half. Its wooded heavly and very hilly. I have found their night spots but still no eggs

Hopefully they will start for you soon, it is a little warmer here in FL....

Merlin doesn't bother me if I mess with them, but I don't go over there too often as it disturbs him and he gets up. Also the other emu follow me so he gets off the nest to chase them....

He seems to be doing pretty good for a first time "broody'
