The average lifespan of a rat is 2 to 3 years
for Mice, 1/2 to 3 years. 2 years being the average.
Hamsters usually live about 2-3 years
The average life span for a guinea pig is roughly 5 to 7 years
Average life span is 2 1/2 years for gerbils.

Rats are much more intelilgent then the others, but their lifespan is not much longer.

I never so many people liked rodents

Humm...well, I might've erred on the time but I am pretty sure Pelon was with me for about 3 years. How weird?

I have read that they live 2-3 years so he must've had a good life with me. Cool!

Awww! They are so cute! I used to have 3 rats. 1 named Honey, 1 named Stormy, and 1 named Rain. Rain and Stormy got there names because when we got them it was storming and raining really hard.

Yes, all my rats generally live past 3 years, I've had one live to 4 and another to FIVE. And my friend, get this, had one that lived to SEVEN YEARS OLD and was still young looking/acting until the last few months of her life. Crazy, huh?

My hydrocephalic rat - Brain - lived to be about 3 - lost him to myco pneumonia

I still cry! He was potty trained and loved to cuddle. If all rats were like him! This pic was as a baby.

I had another male Pinky when I had Brain - He was a curly haired one. He passed away at 3 with neurologic issues.

I have Aine and Iollan now - I know I have pics somewhere. They are both females. They didn't like to be handled much because when they were little they got medicated often. Now they cuddle more. I think when they are gone, I'm gonna get another Netherland Dwarf bunny because I'm missing mine.

I've had mice before - my first boyfriend bought me one as a pet - I wanted it, but Mom said no, so he bought it and Mom couldn't say no

I also kept a colony as feeders, but cried when the foundation boys and girls passed and the ones I kept down the line as breeders.

I have a rat named Zoey that will be 4 years in march, she lost her 5 year old aunt back in December and has gotten aggressive since, I get to attached to them and i just can't get a replacement for her so i've been giving her lots of attention and different toys to play with, i feel bad though but i really can't get another rat when i'm trying to focus on my mice, she will be my last rat for a longgg time.

Once my rats are gone, I'm done with them for awhile. Fuzzy is the last of a very special line to me. His great, great,great great grandma was the 1st rat I ever had.
