my minature horse

I've never really been a fan of hog panels or cattle panels for horses. There are too many chances for horses to get caught in them. Of the two choices, I would go with cattle panels. Field fencing is a pretty good option and well strung wire is another one. We have five or six strands on one side and wooing with some electric it works quite well. My favorite is wood fencing and this can be done relatively inexpensively. It will also last quite a long time and will look nice.

Lean-too cost about $150 each

And have to bend over a lil to walk in. 6ft tall in front, 4ft tall in back and 8ft long.
Used 2x4's for frame work and 7/16 osb boards for walls.

PENDING on cost of supply's in ur area, Price could be higher or lower.

Ok thanks. It sound cheaper then the panels

I don't know... I think cattle panels are a good place to start for SternRose. Cattle panels are pretty darn cheap and extremely easy to put up. If you built a 16x16' pen out of cattle panels, your costs would be: (this doesn't include a gate, but you can rig one of the panels to swing to allow you and the mini to leave and enter)

4 cattle panels @ $20 each = $80
8 T-posts for (corners & line) @ $4 each = $8
Total = $88

You can zip tie or use twine to tie the panels to the T-posts.

Field fence with wood corner posts and T-posts for line posts IS awesome, but you have to buy THE WHOLE ROLL which is expensive. Field fence would not work well for a 16x16' enclosure. Field fence also looks and performs like crap if it isn't installed properly. It needs to be tightened - REALLY tightened - and requires corners with bracing to prevent it from sagging. Good corners usually require at least 3 8" round posts sunk in concrete, and then braced horizontally and diagonally. It's a whole lot of work, but it looks great and lasts way longer than any other fence if done right.

Wood fence looks pretty, but definitely does not last. Plus, sinking that many wood posts in KS clay soil can be a major PITA and expensive if you do not do it yourself.

True on the pricing. I'll take not on BOTH and leave the chose up to mom and dad. :) they are buying it so they can choose. Lol. We could make the pasture out of field fencing and make the gate the panel. :) we'll see. ( hopefully soon)

Ok so is 330ftx47hight gunna be the right size? How much of an acre is 330ft?

An acre is 43,560 square feet. If it were a perfect square, it would be approx. 209' per side.

How much land do you live on? I know you mentioned possibly using the neighbor's fencelines on 2 sides to help cut costs... What type of fencing do they have? Minis can be a lot like goats, and go through fencing that would contain a full size horse or cattle.

They have cows but the last owners had minis. And they added a line of electric tape. And I live on 5acres but only 3 are for the animals maybe a little less. My house is in the middle
