Ok, so will the bread. SafceChoice Mantnince Horse Feed be good for her? Or TRiumph 14% sweet feed? Which ones "better"?

Which feed or should I keep looking. These are the best at my local feed store.

Yea that's what I was leaning more on. They have horse panels but it cost $70 per panel and the panels are 16ft long it would cost to much. The hog panels are $20

I'm not sure I would use hog panels. Hog panels are only 34" high, while cattle panels are 50" high, and should also be $20. Hog panels are pretty useless for keeping anything but hogs in.

Also, the smaller spacing on hog panels will likely be *just* right to let her hoof slip thru, but not come back out, especially with her being so young.

IMO, having a 4x4" space like the cattle panels is a GOOD thing because even though a hoof (even a full size horse's hoof) can slip thru, it cannot get caught. It has plenty of space to come back out. Yes, the goats can put their head thru (mine do all the time!) but it isn't an issue with polled/dis-budded goats.

If your feed store carries the Nutrena line, I would ask them if they can order a bag of Empower Balance for you. Here's a link - it is a Nutrena product, and is a ration balancer, which is all you will really need.

I'm going to guess that it is around $30 per bag. That seems like a lot, but remember, it will last her a LONG LONG time, and it is a good feed. Much better than paying $15 for a cruddy sweet feed that has no benefits.

I am feeding Triple Crown's 30% ration balancer, and it costs me $27 per bag. I only feed 1/2 lb per day to my 800lb Arab gelding that is not in any work. So imagine how little you would need to feed a 150 - 300lb mini!

Just a side note on the 4 by 4 being big enough for a long horse not to get there hoofs caught. That is exactly the size hole my full size horse got caught in. I took up all my wire fence and put up all old fashioned locust and crafter split rail fencing.
As for the hight on the fence my opinion is she should be fine b/c she is a mini but its really a matter of opinion. You could always add some hight and stability by adding a treated 2 by 4 across the top. Just make sure your post are tall enough

Ok, I have two different answers. Lol. Thanks for the food idea. And mom isn't realy happy that xenias gunna need a companion. Lol. I'm going to see Xenia Saturday.!! I'm helping her breeder catch horse for the farrier. and I'm getting paid( the money's going twards Xenia or her stuff)

I'll probly do a mix of th fencing. Or just do the hog one and just add a few tweaks. Lol. It depends on what dads willing to do. Lol

I would recommend going to TSC and get field fence as thats more fence for your $ and its perfect for minis and by far cheaper then panels. Red Brand Field Fence... 4ft tall X 330ft long $149.99. Its all I use. I also built these cute lil lean-toos for about $150 (I have 3) and they are 6x8 four sided.
