My mom has a brain tumor....*update*

First of all , calm down and take a deep breath for that baby!
I have known about brain tumors and every one is different and there are as many benign as not. Until you talk to your mom and you find out exactly what the doctor said, you can't begin any research or understand what is going on.
Your mom is probably reeling too right now... and not thinking too clearly because of it... but there is a lot of treatment out there and EVERY case is different!
One thing I will say: tell her to go with her gut on choosing her doctor and treatment. She really will *know* what is best for her! And always take a friend to every dr appt because 4 ears are better than 2!

Prayers going out to all your family. I am betting your baby will be a great motivator for your mom!

This is a terrible way to discovery the news! Sending positive vibs from the East Coast.
Try to be optimistic - your courageous outlook will be helpful to her.

Yeah I'm not happy about that...but at the same time...it's my mom.

Just sit still and let the Bhicks contractions subside...get a nice glass of cold water or a caffeine free cup of hot tea with honey while waiting... ooohhhmmmmmm ooohhhmmmmm think positive happy thoughts...

Baby has the hiccups right now.

I have to echo these sentiments. Over the past few years while my granddaughter was undergoing treatment for leukemia, we have met many children who have brain tumors. That who you meet when you spend lots of time on a hospital oncology floor. There are so many kinds of brain tumors and stages and where it is located makes a difference. So try to relax as much as possible and remember that a brain tumor is not an automatic death sentence.

Also - I agree about taking someone with her to every single appointment - whether it's to see the doctor or for treatment. Encourage her to get a binder/notebook to keep track of all the information she's given - and to take notes when she talks with a doctor. The amount of information initially can be overwhelming.

My prayers are with both you and your mother.

Thank you! One of my sisters lives in Portland, too...so I'm sure she could go with her....I'm almost 8 hours away and in no condition to drive anywhere....I feel so helpless....
