I have to echo these sentiments. Over the past few years while my granddaughter was undergoing treatment for leukemia, we have met many children who have brain tumors. That who you meet when you spend lots of time on a hospital oncology floor. There are so many kinds of brain tumors and stages and where it is located makes a difference. So try to relax as much as possible and remember that a brain tumor is not an automatic death sentence.
Also - I agree about taking someone with her to every single appointment - whether it's to see the doctor or for treatment. Encourage her to get a binder/notebook to keep track of all the information she's given - and to take notes when she talks with a doctor. The amount of information initially can be overwhelming.
My prayers are with both you and your mother.
Thank you! One of my sisters lives in Portland, too...so I'm sure she could go with her....I'm almost 8 hours away and in no condition to drive anywhere....I feel so helpless....
Although I know you feel helpless - especially now when you don't have specific information - you really aren't. You are carrying that grandchild that will make such a difference to your mother. I am a grandmother, and I well remember when that first grandgirl was born. When I get down, thinking of my grandkids always brighten my day. So please know that you, your siblings and especially that grandbaby will be so vital to your mom during her treatment.
