Beautiful! I prefer using saplings, 2.5" to 4" diameter, bark on, for roosts. It's more natural rather than that wide board, IMO.
In cold weather, just cover the north and west openings, to manage cold winds in the coop. You can also cover the north and west sides of the run like I do, with two layers of clear plastic sheeting, for winter. Experiment with wind protection while maintaining good ventilation.
