My neighbor IS A MURDERER!!!!

All for the more reason, plant some trees in your yard even when you are long gone, it is a remembrance of the previous owners who had lovenily cared for the trees.

I am a logger and make a living cutting down trees and this scenario is all too familiar.

I see it from the other side and usually tell people to plant their own trees.

I feel that if anyone uses lumber and the other byproducts of trees then they really have no gripe.

I also know how you feel and can only tell you they are his trees.

But isn't that like saying the air we breath belongs to someone else????? Trees are for everyones enjoyment. Most large trees have been there long before we were born and will be hopefully long after we die. Yes they are growing on his land but they are enjoyed by others and are the homes to a deal of birds and wildlife? Who really owns the trees??????? The animals who live in them, the person who planted them, the villagers who have admired them? Or the man who distroyed them? He didn't own them, but should have been their carer instead he killed them. moreover he killed the birds who lived there too.

I can understand your point of view being a logger. - I am against uncontrolled logging. But I support sustainable logging as we all need wood. This man is killing for the sake of it. Killing and burning as he isn;t even using the wood!!!!

It does seem pointless to cut them down and burn them.

People cut down trees for a lot of reasons. I have clients that harvest timber at a sustainable rate and will never cut it faster than it grows. Others want the big bucks fast but they all have to replant by law.

Have you asked the guy why he is cutting them? I am currently logging a parcel for a guy who owns a restaurant and is making space for greenhouses to grow his vegetables for his business because he has the land and wants good quality ripe produce. The trees are blocking the light.

Here we pay taxes on our trees they are considered property ie; property taxes and that gives us ownership.

Try talking to him but refrain from projecting an opinionated attitude, you may convince him to leave some. I have seen some folks pay the neighbor to leave trees but I do not reccomend that because the next guy may not honor the agreement.

I would offer a free tree removal (you guys remove the trees, than plant them in your yard), or offer to pay to dig them up and than transplant them to your yard. For very large trees, hire a company to help.

Sadly everyone who has tried to talk to this man has been met with threats of violence including the environment officer. The man is not the talking type and I would reckon he would just cut them down faster if he thought someone objected. As for transplanting trees. Yeap if I had the money and space but I don't and large trees don;t transplant very well!!!!!! Also we have high winds here so if they don;t have good strong roots they would go over. That is why these trees are so lovely because they are mature and have been around a good long time.

Veg - vs-trees??? Isn;t that why were lossing the rain forests???? maybe he might leave some trees. Veg are important but so are the trees that help provide oxygen and rain to grow them!!!!!!!!

Actually, young vigorous growing trees convert more CO2 to oxygen than mature forest.

I would be upset also... :(
But he may be planning to plant a garden or something...
