My Neighbors

In front of me is a lake, in back is woods for about a mile or so, on one side is my brother and the other side is my good friend who has bees. We all get along great and life is good.

I love my neighbors one to the left built my chicken coop for me and gave me a feeder and my incubator, and they buy my eggs and take care of my animals when we go on vacation.
The one to the right has horses (very pretty and when you walk by they come to meet you)dogs, chickens, two blue/green peacocks and one white peacock. So they win me over with their pretty animals and their pretty nice too

I was I was THAT lucky. Our neighbour who really counts (to the right of our property) is a real nice guy, he loves the horses and likes to watch them when he's takin' a break from mowing behind his house. He's makes metal sculptures or something like that. Great guy, quiet, and his wife/girlfriend (I'm not sure which she is!) is super nice.

Across the street are fairly quiet, we don't talk to them much but sometimes their huge Akbash gets off his lead and runs a muck. He's a big softie though and we don't mind much if he comes up to the house, the horses don't mind him much, and the dogs love him.

Across the street to the left is a beef cattle farmer, his family are GREAT and have bailed us out more times than I can count in the year and a half we've lived here. They plow our driveway with their tractor, and chop out bush for us, over the summer after hearing me complain about not being able to investigate what was in the long grass by the goat house he bush hogged it for me while I was out. His son is great, he's training to be an electrician and came and installed a light fixture for me (his son is the same age as me, my parents own our homestead and I live here rent free cause I'm such a great farm slave). Great people!

We also have another neighbour who pulled our truck and a puppy buyer's car out of the driveway last winter at 10pm, he did it a couple times with the truck (lol) and plowed our driveway a few times. Really nice people, and his wife is fantastic.

NOW... We got some new neighbours in the fall. There was a 3 acre lot that hadn't been built on but it was serviced and a family bought it and built on it. We left them eggs to welcome them to the road and not only did they not even bother to come say hi or say thank you, but they left the eggs on the front porch for 3 days (they weren't home, but I put them in a place that they'd look when they came home). I was kind of disappointed in this but it wasn't a big deal. Then when I was in the car accident, you could see it from their house (and certainly hear it) and they were home but didn't come out and ask if I was okay, or anything. My beef cattle farmer neighbour's son came by in his little truck and asked if I wanted a ride home but I had to stay to wait for the tow guys, I did end up walking home but he came later to ask if I was okay and stuff.

These new neighbours haven't at all been interested in socializing with the neighbours, they never wave, they have already turned their parking area into a car junk yard. It's really sad as we're all rather talkative around here.

I'm hoping that the new neighbours decide to become more friendly in the spring, as they'll find soon enough that its not just the sound of goats they'll be living next to but we're getting our first rooster in June and a buckling this year

We're not direct neighbours, they're on the other side of my neighbour to the right but they can certainly hear the hen songs and goat baa's from their place.

I am lucky . The neighbors dont care about all of my chickens. (well at least the ones who know about the chickens).
