my new baby hen

well no one could check on it other then my brother, but he usual sleeps in so i dont know, ill ask him tonight,
cant i feel the clothing, if its warm i should move the lamp up or only if the clothes are more then warm? thanks

Yeah as long as the bedding feels nice and warm, but not like super hot, it should be ok. Just have someone check it a few times while your at school, just to make sure the lamp hasn't fallen or anything. Secure it real good so it doesn't move around or fall. And be sure it's high enough that the hen can't touch it at all. Leave her room to move out from under the lamp if she gets too hot.

Good luck and post some pictures of them when you get your new chick tomorrow, we love baby chick pictures!

i got a new baby hen, today its a black one with a yellow butt fur, ill take a picture later,

How are they doing together, did the first one calm down once she had company?

The feed dish is too deep for such a young chick, you could just spread some over a small paper plate or even just the lid from her food container. Also do a pecking motion with your finger at the food and water (like a mother hen does) so the chick knows what it is supposed to eat. Did they show you what to buy to feed your baby, when you were at the pet shop? Did they give you a list of tips at least on caring for her?

What kind of bulb are you using? I use a regular lamp too (like the one in the pixar logo) with a 60 watt bulb but hang it so it is approx. 25-30cm above the chicks. You have to make sure the bulb doesn't blow though, or at least set up something that will turn on another light if it does. I think maybe they are too cold. Cute, though
