My new chickens

Thank ya both! I am sooooo itching for more chickens.. We'll probably get chicks next time though, I want them to be a bit friendlier. The barred rock, Missy, is a brave lady. I have always loved both breeds and wanted them, and I really thought I'd like my Ameracauna more, but she is much more flighty and skittish. The barred rock is interested in what I'm doing, she's just not ready to come right up to me yet but I have a feeling she will eventually... Especially now that I've decided I shall raise mealworms!

And yes, Ameraucanas are shy birds. They are flighty and skittish. Takes awhile to get to know em. Took 5 months with Cally and she is still shy. Just something about their shyness and modesty that really makes me love her. I am getting some barred rocks and can't wait!

My BRs are about 9-10 weeks old and today when I went in to feed them, she fly up and sat on my arm and looked at me as if to say "hey, how are ya, did you bring the food?" LOL

That is TOO cute!! I really love my BR... She ate out of my hand today!!

I have always wanted a BR. When I was little I remember standing outside with my mom one evening, she was heating up the BBQ pit. I asked her what we were having for dinner, and she said "I was thinking chicken." I kid you not, right on cue a barred rock hen came running full speed up our driveway! It was hysterical. She was super friendly and hung out for around a week before she went missing (we were not set up for chickens). They've "stuck" with me ever since!

They dont look like yours and dont have the puffy cheeks like yours do which i really like, cuz it looks pretty neat!
