My new ducklings are harassing the older ducklings

My two Muscovy ducklings were evil minions when I first got them. My husband, not knowing, let them out immediately to meet Daphne, my adult Rouen. The ducklings chased Daphne all over the place before we could get them contained. We kept them separated (they could see Daphne, but not touch/bite her) for at least a week (can’t remember the exact time frame), and then had brief supervised get togethers. This led to keeping them together during the day but separated at night. Eventually, I got tired of chasing them to put them away, and I left them all together. Everyone dealt with it, and are now inseparable. The initial meeting is how my ‘Scovies got nicknamed “The Goons” ;)

hahaha nice picture

I had 5 female cayugas that I incubated this summer. Once they got to be around 4 weeks old, I let them out with the adults. The adults were terrified of them. All 5 of them would attack an adult if one of them was getting picked on. They would swarm in from 5 different directions and bombard the offender at once. They were very serious about leaving them alone. I found it hilarious. But now they are all adults, they are perfectly fine together. That didn’t happen until they were about mating age.

I forgot to say that the summer before, their mothers did the same thing when they were ducklings. They didn’t put up with any crap from the adults. My Sweet Pea would spear any adult that gave them the stink eye...:gig
