My new pet snake *PICS*

Awesome!

I work at a pet store, I'm the reptile chick, and I get to change people's perspectives' on animals every day. I usually "convert" at least 2 snake people and 2 rat people a day. "eww snakes! It's gonna kill me!" "ew rats are disgusting!"

My sister had a pet rat that was the coolest ever. Her name was CJ. She would take CJ into town with her (riding her bike!) and that rat would ride on her shoulder or in the sleeve of her sweatshirt. The rat chewed a hole in the lid of the terrarium and lived (free-ranged) in my sister's room. She would sleep on my sister's pillow at night and went back into her terrarium to use the bathroom. You could go into my sister's room, call "CJ!" and that rat would come running to you.
Really, really cool.

I am always amazed at the reactions I get after a demonstration and letting the people know the facts, why they shouldn't be afraid. I still call it educating one person at a time. Pure fear is what drives people to kill and its so senceless. Hopefully I will be doing better with my illness soon and maybe we can get back out there and continue the work we both loved to do. Until then we will continue to educate people from our home.

Snakeman has been busy the last couple of days so I haven't been able to get any new pics.

I have been disabled for the last two years, after I got sick. Anyway my doctor told me he wanted me to buy a computor and take some cources online. He said even though you are in your 40 somethings you still have time to get a new career.

Well the first time my doctor asked what I was studying I said "chickens."

I don't beleive he liked that answer.

The look on his face was priceless though.

The truth was I couldn't really figure out anything I was interested in until I looked at the crappy photos I took of our snakes for this thread. Maybe I will look into a photography class. It could happen and with my love of nature I beleive I would enjoy it.

Here is another humorous story for me but maybe not for the other actors involved. I was having to attend a assistant managers meeting that was being held about 15 miles or so from the building I was at. To get to the expressway I had to drive through this tiny town, maybe 10 little buildings in the whole town, the city part anyway.

Well I was right in the middle of the town and what do I see lying on the side of the road but a rat snake that was about four and a half feet long. The snake was just chilling. I'm sure he was soacking up the heat from the pavement to help digest a tasty meal he had consumed.

I pull my truck over making sure I wasn't causing a traffic problem or anything. I jump out with my snake hook{just in case he was a biter} and my snake bag. I catch the snake with no problem but the snake did not want to go into the bag. I was having a hard time wrestling him into the bag. Another citizen stopped and held the bag open for me so I got the rat snake in the bag finally.

The whole time this was going on it was traffic going through there like nothing was going on. Well about that time I heard the loud WHAM. What happened was one care rear ended the car in front of it because they were watching what I was doing. OOPS

At that time I proceded on, took the snake and drove off. One thing I knew the wreck wasn't bad enough for anyone to be hurt and the other was catching the snake made me late for the meeting so I had to go.

Was I wrong for leaving the scene?

Even if I had stayed it wouldn't have changed the way things went down and possible the people that wrecked might had gotton mad at me. IDK

Hope you like this one, I got a lot more to share.

Exactally, just because there was a woman on the side of the road catching a big ole snake they were supposed to watching the road.

I still have to laugh when I think about it.

I had that happen to me a couple weeks ago in NC. I stopped to pick up a snake on the roadside, a nice 5' plus rat snake that latched onto my wrist when "bam" some lady rear ended another car while she was watching me get bit.

Well did you hang out after the wreck happened to the people?

I probably would have but I was running late to a managment meeting anyway, no time to spare. I mean I wasn't doing anything wrong or anything but I'm sure the people that wrecked would have liked an explanation what was going on. My main purpose for stopping was to relocate the snake to a safer place to live. Where he was he was bound to be road kill.
