One day on my way to work I saw a snake crossing the road. The snake was moving rather quickly on the hot pavement so I wasn't able to identify what kind it was but I saw where it left the road and where it went. I immediately pulled my truck over, off the side of the road as to not block traffic. I was on a country road anyway and we don't have traffic.
Anyway I grabbed my snake hook and bucket. Since I hadn't identfied the snake I didn't know if I would need these items or not. The snake had left the roadway and then went up a small hill and crawled into this thick bush. Well there I was trying to get into this thick bush to get the snake but also trying to make sure the snake didn't go further into the thicket.
I was all bent over and stuff and not really paying attension to what was going on around me. A car had pulled up. Now from where I was to where my truck was it was probably 30 feet or more. In other words I was no where around my truck. Then all of a sudden here this mans voice say "mam, are you alright? Are you broke down? I turn around and its a older couple asking this.
My responce was "ya I'm O.K. I'm just trying to get this snake out of this bush here." Well these people didn't say alright then, just checking on you to make sure you were not broke down. Just seeing if you need help or some kind of assistance. They didn't say bye, they didn't say good luck catching the snake they, didn't say kiss my ....
They didn't say a word. All I heard was tires squealing, gramps was getting out of dodge.
That day I didn't get my snake, he got away.
Its just funny to me because I wonder what this older couple was thinking. Probable something like is the mental hospital missing a patient or whats up with the new generation, bunch of old whipper snappers.
