How cute! I'm jealous. I've been searching in Winston Salem,NC with no luck. Another member close by has graciously offered to hatch some and I may have to do that. I was hoping to find some white pet quality sexed young hens that were reasonbly priced. -not that I don't LOVE roos(I'd have all roos simply for the beauty if I could afford to feed them and keep them safe) -but you can't keep but so many. I currently have four and need to place at least one, a BLRW roo. Lynn

I think when it comes to silkies there are always some out there, you just have to find them. I made sure to let everyone know i was looking and i cant believe how fast i found them. Chicken people are the best people i have EVER found. Chicken people are a family that seem to take care of eachother VERY WELL!!!! I got the idea of raising chickens for EGGS but i would keep them all if they never layed an egg EVER. I cant believe all the years of my life i missed out on this
I think if you post what you are looking for, people on here will help you find swap/sales in your area. Then you have to take the reigns and finish the job. I had to do alot of driving between the swaps and then to where i finally got them, but its worth it. Good Luck Lynn
I have posted here for silkies locally but must be the wrong timing. I do have a very nice BYC member who is willing to help. I've contacted Forsyth Fowl Fanciers and gotten the name of a local man who raises them but he evidently doesn't have any available currently. There are two up-coming poultry events, 2 in Novemeber and I am supposed to be out of twon. -Bet I'd get some there. I may have to skip my hubby's grandmother's 95th birthday in Virginia(Nov. 10th)...Is that bad or what!??
I LOVE my chickens too. I appreciate the eggs(makes my hubby believe in the pet that gives back & therefore worthwhile... good thing he doesn't keep up with feed to egg costs...Bwahahahahah) anyway, to me chickens are beautiful and interesting to keep. I just picked up a sweet little pair of 6 month old BB Red OEGBs at a trade day event. Hubby fell in love. Annabel is the size of a dove and Hector sounds like a wind-up toy when he crows. LOL!
