My new Sliver Spangled Hamburgs!!!!! Finally PICS

Hi Pam! If Hansel and Gretel suit your darlings, then Hansel and Gretel they should be!
I wasn't very original when I named my pair. They were Boy Spot and Girl Spot.

We keep ours cooped. Otherwise all our juvenile delinquents would be long gone. they fly at my when I go to give them treats. The older hens had their wings clipped when we got them and haven't grown back all the way yet.

I used to raise BF Hamburgs and they are beautiful birds. I hope to get a few more pullets next year if things goes well for some Spitz crosses.

My SSH pair are also Hansel and Gretel - only in the dialect of the part of Germany my DH is from - which makes them Jan and Griet! They are very pretty - the only reason I have a rooster is because Jan is so decorative! And Griet is a pretty good layer, though her eggs are quite small (all my little flock are about 9 months old). She is also the most adventuresome of the lot, wandering the widest, and least inclined to be lured back to the coop by treats. And she hasn't any idea that she isn't as big as her "sisters", the New Hampshire Reds and EEs
