Granted I was medical, but I never once had anything other than iron sights when qualifying.

I like the 5.56/.223 but ARs are so damn loud. I dispatched a opossum that had been captured without ear pro and thought I blew my ear drum lol. Not a mistake I will make again.

It just sounds like you are getting older now... when I was 18 we didn't use earpro!

Of course we were training on M16A1's too! Earpro was being offered just we didn't think we needed it. Especially with range instructors who were very happy to jump into your foxhole to "assist" you to remove your head from your gastro-intestinal tract as needed. I was more afraid of those guys and didn't want to miss a "word of advise" from them.

Speaking about being medical I do miss the .45ACP what a wonderful round. It basically followed the trajectory of a thrown rock. At 18=20 I could watch every round going down range.Always 40/40 on that one!
