my old chicken is sick she is throwing up & her comb is turning purple

Frostbite doesn't cause symptoms that severe though. Usually just depression and maybe weight loss. But not vomiting. The more you describe it, it doesn't sound like choking. But it could be. I would take her to your vet ASAP for a better diagnosis. Is her crop full or empty, and if it's full, is it hard?

from the sounds of it....vomiting is rare to you guys?
in the summer my chickens vomit up a slime compostion....i know it isnt a good thing, but i am kinda surprised now that no one else has had a chicken vomit......my chickens combs have never turned dark with it tho, and i dont do anything about it.....it always seem that after a rooster did the deed to one of my hens, she would vomit....but i have also seen my rooster do it......

No, vomiting is not rare. My birds vomit in the summer too if they drink too quickly. Coupled with other symptoms though, it's unusual.

Well, she's an odd case. Watch her for other symptoms.

i would have to agree with moodychicken....the other symptoms added in makes this a very curious case of sick chicken

i had a chicken die of similar cases but her comb did nothing this chicken is old though she is about 6 now
