My Pet Chicken order

I ordered 6 different breeds (amerucana, Jersey Giant, Gold laced wyandotte, blue chochin, BR, New hamshire red) from MPC and got 7 pulletts (one extra BR). We are new to this but I was very impressed that we got all pullets and in this day and age when customer services can be hard to find - they were fantastic.

I've not had any problem with customer service from any of the hatcheries I've dealt with. MMH, Ideal, or Meyer. Of course I believe MPC gets their chicks from Meyer. I like Meyer because they always include more chicks than you order.

MPC was great for me for the most part. I did order all pullets and wound up with one rooster in a Black Tailed White Japanese - I am keeping him though. And did get one Belgium Antwerp w/ horrible crossbeak. Not much you can do there.

They did send me double my order in error too so I really cannot complain about one roo and one with issues.

BJ,
Where are you in IN? I am in north central IN. I got my first order from MPC in late June. Everything was perfect and so far the 9 (3 of 3 different breeds) seem to be all pullets. Hope that continues! I already had 6 BO's and one of them turned out to be a rooster so he is gone to another home. Good luck with your babies.

Gram,
I'm in Noblesville. Backyard chicken farmers are "few and far between" around here! I live on a lane of 15 houses...each about 1/3 - 3/4 acre lots. The neighbors love the chickens, but we are careful not to overdo it. This is our second go-around and our second coop, since our first try was not well-thought out and the bantams were not cold-weather hardy. I researched my breed this time, and I don't think I can go wrong with buff orpingtons! So far, so good...day 2 and they are still goin' strong!! I ordered 6 but I will only be able to keep 3. If they are all pullets, I should not have trouble finding good homes for the additional 3.

what hatchery did u get them from?
