my pet chicken reviews

Pics
My speckled Sussex and salmon Faverolles were especially tiny. Half the size of the others and one SS and sf were half the size of those, so 1/4 the size of the others. So I don't know that it is all about the breeds.
Oh, I'm sure that wasn't all of it. Been getting shipped chicks often enough to know that. But if they weren't real strong to start with, and then the bigger chicks kinda tromped on them, that could have an effect too. That's the only reason I even mentioned the size difference. I'm just grateful that the shipment only took 3 days to get here - at least I got to try to save them. If it had been delayed a day, they would have most likely been DOA.

The second one died about 10 minutes ago. All of the rest of the chicks are thriving.

All four ( 2 EEs, 1 barred rock, 1 SLW) babies arrived cheeping very loudly at 11am this morning (so, very quick turn around for folks on the east coast). Happy n loud in their brooder for now. The EEs are easy -- very chipmunk-y, but still trying to figure out how to tell the Barred Rock and SLW apart -- am giving one or two chicks to someone else, but would like to keep the SLW for sure. One has a yellow spot on her (hopefully) head, is that the barred rock?

@Blooi I'm sorry to hear about your baby.

My little Golden Buff is still hanging on... barely. She is the smallest one in my order. I'm giving her electrolytes but I don't think she'll make it. I brought her to work with me today and have her in a box next to my desk. I couldn’t bring my MHP since the others are using it. I do have an electric heater on pointed towards the box. I’ve had them for more than 48 hours so contacting MPC won’t do any good.

Glad yours are doing well! Mine shipped out late yesterday afternoon around 4, and were tracked out of Cleveland at 930 last night. I was really hoping to get them today but the tracking estimate is tmrw by 330. Sadly I could've driven there and back 4 times by then :/

@Blooie so sorry you lost them both :( I have my hubby stopping to pick up Nutridrench on his way home today. I have save a chick but I want to make sure I'm fully prepared in case I get any that need extra attention.

Aww -- I'm so sorry! That's also super weird -- I'm in MA and would have had them by 8am if I didn't happen to live in a small town far from the central city/mail distribution. I would think you would have gotten them before me in PA??

Can't predict the USPS I guess. My luck I'll get a call while I'm at work tonight and have to send my hubby.

@Tika75 glad she's still hanging in there!
