My pic of eggs & mini rant...

Whenever I hear a conversation like this, I always remember Dr. Seuss' "The Sneetches." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3yJomUhs0g

And
as for the folks who prefer white to brown or whatever color eggs, I can only think, "Which ever you prefer, but, well, duh...it's not what's on the outside that matters; it's what's on the inside that counts."

Do people really think that the egg shell color affects the egg inside???

And to the OP, your eggs are gorgeous!

Over winter when my hens slowed their laying, I bought store eggs. I was boiling them to make egg salad. They FLOATED!! Once the water started boiling the whole house stunk like rotten eggs. I pitched them out the window!

No...b'cuz they arent white lol...

You know what's so funny about this is I won't even buy any white layers because the first thing people ask is "You sell the brown yard eggs??" No one here wants white eggs!!

yay! I bartered for dinner last night at the local diner ...he gave us $2.50 off our bill and free drinks for the kids...for a dozen eggs...

he posted on my FB page: Hey we had brown eggs for dinner last night and believe it or not, we are still alive!

hehe..

Interesting post. I grew up in a place that always had white and brown eggs in the stores. But for some reason, I thought that brown eggs were brown because of what the chickens were fed. I believed this very strongly, because lots of other people have the same misconception, so I was never corrected. Instead, my beliefs were reinforced. If something is "common knowledge", it isn't someone's fault if that's how they see things. I was only corrected on this a few years ago.

Also- As far as not buying because of the eggs not being refrigerated or washed, I can see why they'd say that. As someone said here, it's a requirement in some states that you refrigerate and/or wash your eggs before they are sold. There is so much emphasis on food safety these days. I guess some people figure that the same requirements would hold true for egg safety no matter where the chicken lives. Since I have a lot of food safety info through my office, I will refrigerate my eggs if my dang hens ever start laying!

Now you and I know what bloom is, why brown eggs are brown, but the common Joe and Jane don't. And how much of this info did we not know before we started raising chickens? I think it's our job to educate people, but sometimes people will look at you like you're nuts no matter what. Wives tales are hard to debunk because they're culturally ingrained.

Your photo is beautiful, and so are your eggs.

why? what is the safety concern? there are first world countries around the world who do not fridge their eggs - and they're not dying or getting sick. i'm sincerely interested - - what is the concern?

Oh my gosh! BEAUTIFUL eggs!!! If I lived near you and didn't have chickens I would buy from you!!! I know that doesn't help, I am going through the same thing but I think I just found some buyers! Good luck!

Never heard of such a thing. I know some people do have a preference, but most don't care much between white or brown. What cracks me up are the people that don't believe me that some chickens can lay blue and green eggs. If all goes well with my EE, I will have proof once she starts to lay!
