Oh and, a piece of adult wisdom, forget about what people around you think of you. I grew up as a bisexual, stereotypical pretty white girl growing up in the mid- late 2000’s. You might be too young to know this, but back then scene girls were quite the rage. I was a mix of stereotypical prep girl and diehard scene girl, and you bet nobody on either side cared much for me.

Remember that, no one actually cares much about how you chose to live your life. They may act like it, but deep down they probably couldn’t care less.

I know this is a bit off topic from what we were talking about, but I felt it was important to mention anyways. And, another note, half of everything you learn in school you don’t really need, so feel free to forget about it once you pass the tests. You’ll be hard pressed to find a situation where you need to name every element on the periodic table.

It's fine-really any life advice is welcome. I'd love to be able to stop caring what people think of me-I would pay MONEY to be able to do that. But here we have it: Socially awkward 'try hard' girl who can't be seen with her one friend because people always make fun of her for 'dating' him (complete bs).

If something falls under my 'I'm like 999% sure that this is useless info' radar, I tend to just let it drop out of my brain. I think that the curriculum in schools, high schools especially, should be altered so that you only need to learn that one obscure science thing that you will only need if you get this one specific job if you want to, and people are taught how to do things like balance a checkbook.

Oh, in middle school I was made fun of for hanging out with my best friend, I did actually end up dating her for a while, because apparently everyone thought we were dating. No one actually cares about what you do, they all feel the same about themselves. Finding a good group of friends ( mine were the theatre kids) is the key.

Just don’t forget the stuff until after the tests, okay?

Don't worry-I stress super hard about grades, so nothing is being forgotten until I no longer need it :) (I'm proud to say that the stressing has paid off-straight As so far, with mixed A+s and -s)

I can see the possibility of us dating at some point (this isn't me being romantic, this is me being logical and thinking about what might happen in the future) but for my self conscious little brain, being made fun of in any way just adds on to the stress that my idiot brain puts on its self. I had a solid friend group, but then it sort of fell apart, and is in a bunch of little groups now. I have 2-4 friends at school, and 2 that live down the street and go to a different school, but that's about it.

. I'd love to be a vet because of the 'helping animals' aspect, but I also think that it would break my heart to see animals suffering all the time, as well as having to tell people that their animals have to be put down, and actually putting the animals down. Same reasoning with being a doctor-I'd love to help people, but couldn't bear knowing that I can't help someone, or didn't do enough helping.
Yes, I think it is great to help animals, but vets have to deal with uncooperative animals or animals in pain, and their distressed owners. So it could be a gratifying job in the end, but also saddening and/or stressful.
I am guessing I am in the same general age range with you, black_cat.

I am guessing I am about the same age as you, black_cat. I have a lot of the same questions about...life.
Feel free to join in on the thread! (Is it bad that I can't judge age and have been thinking of you as an adult when seeing you on here XD)

I know that feeling all too well.

Things you should know for high school (and middle school):

1. Depression is just a chemical imbalance in your brain. It may seem horrible at times, but if it is really bad talk to your parents about getting help.
2. Don’t vape or smoke or ingest nicotine and tobacco of any kind. It kills, and your name doesn’t have to be added to the list of lives lost from it.
3. Bullies are just mad because they have other problems. No one hates you, anyone who says that is having other problems most likely.
4. If you don’t love someone, you don’t need to be in a relationship with them. It’s your choice, and one sided relationships turn toxic way too quickly.
5. Don’t get pregnant if you are a girl, and don’t impregnate other teenagers if you are a boy. It’s a bad thing to do.
