I have a dopey White Crested Black Polish Roo who gets himself into the darndest , hilarious predicaments !

Last winter , on one of the few days it was above 0 and not snowing, I was standing by a window watching as my son shoveled a path to the door to his and his ladies' coop..
As soon as he opened their door , out came flying Phillip's favorite hen , Sassy , a Legorn .

Now she landed on top of the 4 ft high snow bank my son just shoveled, without incident.
She then jumped down to the ground and started pecking the ground .

Suddenly , Phillip flew out also, landed about a foot to the left of where Sassy landed and promptly SUNK up to his Poofy little white -haired head !

My son turned to look at me , and I just buckled over laughing as did he ..my son , Not Phillip as Phillip was looking up at my son as if to ask , " Well , are you going to just stand there and let me continue to be emasculated in front of my girls , or are you going to pick me up and get me Outta here ??".

So , my son leaned over and picked him up and plopped him down next to where his girls were happily scratching away , and proceeded to chase his favorite girl back into the coop as if to " punish Her for embarrassing Him !!

Fast forward to Spring. One day my son and I were out doing chicken and duck chores when Phillip started crowing his Poofy white -haired head off .. Nothing unusual for him since he crows from sun up til sundown except something in his little squeaky attempt at crowing sounded strange.

So, my son and I peeked into to his coop to check on him but could not locate him!

We went into their coop , which is pretty big , and Still didn't see him and his ladies were just scratching around without a care in the world , when something white and Poofy caught our eye .

Well , now this is a good one , there he was ,( again ,Phillip, not my son I should mention ), STUCK Under a black milk crate !!

He must've been perching on the edge when it flipped over , trapping him under it !

Again , laughter erupts ,( this time you could swear from the girls also ) , as we lifted up the crate to let him out !

And , again , we had 1 emasculated , embarrassed Roo !

What's the latest predicament Phillip got himself into , are you wondering ?

Well , I'll tell you what his latest predicament was , as it happened just last night .

You know those sticky fly traps , the ones where you open up the roll , pull it down about 2 ft then tack them up REAL high ?

Well , while my son and I were putting everybody to bed , ( I was in the Silkie's and Cochin's
run ), I hear loud flapping , followed by that same squirrely attempt at a crow , coming from
Phillip's coop again.
Again , let me mention that my son had Just walked in there with an opened , pulled out , fly strip to tack up Real high

.Probably about , oh , let's say 20 seconds after I heard the aforementioned flap and squawk , I hear my son say ," Phil ....Really ?? "!

I couldn't wait to see what he got himself into now. So I walked into the coop to find Phillip being pinned down by my son with one hand, while he was holding his
other hand as high as he could.

Can anyone guess what happened ?

Well my son said ," well the Poof head really out did himself this time . When I walked into the coop , Phil flew off his perch and Right onto the fly strip and now his wing is stuck to it "!!

Well , as I was laughing , I held Phillip down while my son carefully removed wing from the sticky mess ! Again , Phillip just sat there , humiliated again.

So , after we successfully removed his wing , i told my son that I was going to get some warm, soapy water and soak his wing real well to remove Any residue .

Before I walked away , my son tells Phillip ," I don't feel like dealing with you anymore , so stay here while I finish tacking this up ".

What do I see next ,? Phillip , trapped under his favorite milk crate again , all be it , on purpose this time ; kind of a little jail cell !

Did I hear someone ask what his girls did THIS time ?

Well , Winnie , his SLW , who moments before all this happened , was being " harassed by Phillip , jumped up onto the milk crate and plopped herself down !

I swear I saw just a " hint " of a grin across her little beak !!

So , there was Phillip , my macho Roo , crowing that white , Poofy head of his off until my son finished tacking up the fly strip about 8 ft up .

My son said ," should we let Phil out from his cell now ?" I said we might as well , but Winnie wanted nothing to do with getting her fluffy butt off the crate .

We removed her from it , she squawked , Phillip ran out from under it and proceeded to chase Winnie this time , in an attempt to regain at least some respect back.

Anyone else's " manly Roos " get themselves into hilarious predicaments ?

LOL He sounds so goofy!

Thank you so much, what an adorable silly rooster. He's certainly very good at humilliating himself in front of his laaaadiez. Photo please!

like you i was laughing my head off reading this. My rooster is mean and was going after my little bro. My bro had a ukelele in front of him and when the rooster came up to spur him he hit his head off the ukelele and knocked himself out.

Phillip is VERY high strung and mean. He HATES me so I have to be careful, but what he has in meanness, he more than makes up for in how he protects his hens and is very entertaining.

How long was he out?

Phillip sounds like such a silly spaz with a Napoleon complex. At least his funny antics sort of make up for his mean streak.

Here is another rooster story: My Buff Oprpington rooster, Rascal lives in the bachelor coop with with Augie and Colin. They get supervised free range time while the hens and their rooster, Ruby are in their separate run. Rascal is a sweet roo, but he likes to pick fights with Ruby roo across the chicken wire. So one time I was distracted and come back to the coop to find Rascal hanging upside down from one leg with his spur stuck in the chicken wire. I yelp and run over to free him, while the other bachelor roos and the chickens inside the run are just staring at him. I sit on the ground with him in my lap to check him out and Augie does the drop wing shuffle dance around us. Fortunately, Rascal's leg was fine. Rascal still picks fights across the chicken wire with Ruby, but they limit their kicking.

OMG, how funny ! Sounds like something goof ball Phillip would do.

I think roos can be so funny with the predicaments they get into when it comes to their ladies or lady chickens in general.

Last night , Phillip jumped off his perch but hit their coop light knocking the bulb loose, causing their light to go out.

Thanks for the great story.
