My poor polish😥

So ive had "issues" with my polish rooster since I got it at a few days old.(5/28/2020) from the start I noticed it had crusties around the eye even had the eye crusted over a few times in between cleanings. I would use Q-tips with warm water to moisten and clean and would use coconut oil to clean around the eye as well since i heard that would help and it did. But Over the past few months every so often I would have to clean debris from his eye, wondering if it was normal for it to go on this long. Recently due for his cleaning I noticed his eye looked worse than its ever gotten before. I have vetricyn poultry care spray but honestly dont want to spray into or dab near his eye unless it's safe and the bottle doesn't say it is safe for use on eyes(safe around head and sensitive areas)... Is the vetricyn eye care stuff the same?

Can I try human eye drops? Will he always have this or Should it have cleared up by now? Should i just keep using warm water and coconut oil to keep it clean? So many questions that I need extra input on, i have my notes but want to get chicks-pert opinions! ive never had this issue with any of my chickens before and im a bit worried. He doesn't act sick,he eats regularly, interacts normally, it doeant seem to bother him as much as it does me. I just feel like it would be super uncomfortable for him

Yes, you can use vetricyn on his eyes, just be very gentle and I recommend you get some in a syringe and slowly drop it in his eyes. I'm not sure if it should have cleared up by now. I also suggest cleaning it more often, how often do you clean it now? I don't think you can/should use human eye drops for him, and you should stick with warm water and coconut oil+ the spray. Also, is his coop/run/where he lives clean?

They pretty much free range during the day and i put them in at night. He has his preferred/designated perch thats away from the others and that area is also cleaned every morning. Hes had this going on since i got him as a chick. I'll try the syringe approach and hopefully that will help. Thanks a bunch

They pretty much free range during the day and i put them in at night. He has his preferred/designated perch thats away from the others and that area is also cleaned every morning. No problem. Also, try trimming the feathers around his eyes. Sometimes crud gets stuck in the feathers, and with them so close to the eyes it can lead to this.

I dont think thats what it is. Its cleared up already. And as i said his eyes been doing this off and on since a chick. Only new thing I used was the vetericyn stuff and it helped clear it up in a day

What are the scabs on the face? They do look like fowl pox, but the chicken also has eye bubbles which can be a sign of mycoplasm or MG, a respiratory disease. Sometimes it can be a secondary infection in fowl pox. I would clean up the face and eyes with saline eye wash or plain saline (1 tsp per quart of water, boiled and cooled.) Then twice a day apply either Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin ointment to the eye twice a day. Tylosin powder which is found online at pigeon supplies, can be put into water for 5 days to treat and bird with MG symptoms. Fowl pox, if that is what has cause the scabs, runs it’s course over several weeks. If those are peck wounds, they will eventually heal.

I thought the same but its cleared up since this post. I'll post an update photo soon its 6am here n im still spook sleepy lol
