I would say definitly talk to the neighbor. Even if Romeo isn't a surplus roo destined for dinner (in which case please do save him!) it would be good for the neighbor to know your pullet is hanging around and that she is, indeed, yours. Wouldn't want her to get accidentally adopted, then cause a fight trying to get her back.
Romeo has not been back for a couple of days. I think our roo frightened him off. Our whole flock has stuck around the yard and has not gone visiting to the neighbor's in a couple of days. Our first girl just started laying
and the others are all looking nice and red in the face and I think many of them will start soon, so I'm wondering if that is why they are being such homebodies.
I did stop to check in on Romeo. He's just fine. The neighbor folks know who's is who's and they don't mind if my chickens come to visit. I forgot to ask if they knew what breed Romeo is
I think red sex link is the right answer.
Perhaps their tiny little chicken brains have already erased the precious memories of scratching for bugs together, running away from me through the woods, and roosting in the trees on a branch all to themselves. Poor little pea brains.
Young lovers are fickle. Perhaps we will see the flame rekindled, but perhaps this was just not meant to be. I'll be sure to let everyone know the very second I see them back together! We all know that true love never dies, so keep the faith friends, that Romeo and Felicity might one day be reunited.
I hope he wasn't headed for freezer camp. The Op said she was gonna check on him and we haven't heard anything since. The forum is getting so stressful, I wish the op's wouldn't start something they don't finish.
I couldn't get over there yesterday as I had a sick kid and it was one of those days where there was general chaos over here. Sorry for the stress! You are all sweet to care about the lovebirds!
