My quail experience: we just got hatching eggs!

They’re hatching!

So far there’s one who looks like maybe tuxedo, one that’s very yellow underneath(Big Bird) a very red looking one (Red), some that are pretty stripey, and some that seem more spotty. It’s amazing to see all the differences! We are trying to give out gender neutral names, so we don’t have weird mismatches, like huh why is Princess crowing?

I have a table lamp near the incubator, so we can see the chicks better, and even though it’s outside the incubator and doesn’t give off heat, they all crowd close to the side its nearest when it’s turned on haha.

There seemed to be a lull in hatching and some had been out for nearly 10 hours and they were going around, pecking shells, and condensation, and newer wet chicks. So I quickly snatched all the hatched ones up and moved them to the brooder, I think it was 15 or 16 out of 28.
I banded the ones from spotted eggs, the smallest bands were too small, and the next size up might fall off, I guess I’ll wait and see. One of the spotty eggers has a clubbed foot :( is there anything I can do to train it to work better, he gets around really well anyway.
