My quail experience: we just got hatching eggs!

Were your quail eggs moving in the last 2 days before the hatch? i have some that aren't and i;m getting worried. They are on day 16 of 17. Button quail
button quail can be very difficult to candle and may or may not have movement of the eggs at hatch time......they do seem to “communicate” and hatch more closely together that coturnix and sometimes you can see the external pips starting when they get close......good luck :fl :pop

Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a while, reading up about quail. I’ve really wanted to keep them for quite some time, so this year I ordered all the stuff haha. I got everything ready: incubator, candler, feed, brooder, feeders, hutch and pen, etc.

I finally ordered the eggs, 24 celadon hatching eggs off of eBay, I tried to choose a reputable seller. All went well.

Fast forward a couple weeks and my eggs are lost in the mail haha, just my luck. After several days of being in transit to next facility, the seller suggested I contact the post office(easier said than done). I filled out the where’s my package for it and low and behold, it showed up the next day!

I let them settle all day and I put them in the incubator before bed, they were about 9-10 days old when I got them so I’m hoping some will hatch.
Anyway wish me luck, I’ll post updates and pics here:)

Read two words before i saw a ton of celadon eggs and was like. I want !!!!!. Beautiful eggs ill finish reading this post now hope it turned out ok o.o

I don’t know how the genetics work but I love some hens that always lay those eggs
Oh its a celadon gene apparently you can buy some that are pure gene to were all children they have will also 100% have it and give it to there kids others that aren't 100% breed (from what i been reading not expert) can carry the celadon blue gene dormant and it can awaken in the new chicks that they helped give like too and such :hmm so ur blue eggs do have a chance to have that gene active ^^ from what i read that is XD let me know if they do i currently have 1 lil blue button celadon egg that was a happy surprise in my order I'm hoping it hatches a hen so i can see if it passes the gene

i've had quail fro two years and the first year there were no celadons. The next year i got some mor birds and when i got a celadon layer i was so delighted. I can't describe how happy i was. But then i bred those ones and now i can't tell who layed which celadon egg :lau
