My quail has an infection on its leg :(

Here are two legs so you can see the difference.

Wow poor bird. I would try the paste in case the lump is an infection. But I should leave you casportpony she knows more than me.
Best of luck, I will be reading your thread and hoping for your birds swift recovery.

Yes. It was similar to that but in a very large lump that shouldn't be there. What would that mean if it were joint fluid?
In my horse it meant that she had punctured the joint. In horses it's pretty serious as infection will usually set in, so I had to take her to the UC Davis so they could flush her joint until she healed. I have no idea what it means in birds, nor do I know how one would treat it if that's what it is.

Definetely. But the swelling has reduced a lot since yesterday. It's still large but we are moving in the right direction. She is separated and in a very comfortable space of her own.

Hi. Thanks for asking. I've still got the bird separate from the others. The swelling won't go down but perhaps it never will. I'm concerned they will see her weakness and pick on her. My last boy had to be put down tonight because they savagely pecked his head. So for now she is alone, and probably lonely. I'll see about reintroducing her this weekend when I'll be home all day.
