My quail hate me. **Update--they don't hate me as much as they did!**

They aren't laying. My A&Ms are at least 12 weeks old, males are crowing but no eggs from the 4 girls. Not a one. I've owned them about a month and the previous owner (who wasn't keeping them in the best conditions conducive to laying and was feeding them low-protein food) said no eggs for him either. I just bought 5 browns from a member here--4f/1m--16 weeks old. Laying for her. Not for me. They've been here a week.

They hate me.

Ok, whinefest over. On to the details: Visual light from sun up to sun down with an over head light left on for another 3 hours after sundown. Feeding 28% protein gamebird food with occasional treats of mealworms. What else need I do?

Birds that have been moved can take up to a month to start laying again (at least that's what Monarch told me when I had the same problem)

I'm sorry but I thought the title of your post was funny!

I picture a bunch of quail out in the coop, with big black smudges over their heads when you come out. One of them has found a piece of cardboard and has scratched, "Wii haat dedle!!" and is pacing around in front of the door. Another has scratched, "No aigs for U!" on the side of a brood box.

2 of the A&Ms and one Pharoahs are laying. Now, if the other 4 will catch up, we'll be in business!
