Earlier yesterday, I was out with my chickens and it looked like my rooster had a piece of debris on his eye. I figured I’d check him out later when he goes in to roost for the night.
As my chickens were filing in, I noticed his face looked a little strange. They went up to roost, that’s when I can pet him, hug him and check him out. So I did and got these photos. I took one of his left side to for comparison.
I would like to know if anyone has ever seen anything like this before or if you think he just got hurt on a stick or something while he was out free ranging all day.

Look inside the beak for any yellow material. Several conditions, such as canker, wet fowl pox from mosquitoes, or a cancerous tumor, can cause swelling and lesions inside the beak. Injury to the outside of the beak might also be possible. Is there a bad odor from the beak?

I may have to wait until tonight to check inside his mouth. He’s not easy to catch and I don’t want to cause him too much stress. At night he is easy to handle. I did notice today that the right eye looks a little bloodshot and inflamed. We do have many mosquitoes here. It very well could be that. I will check him out tonight again and get a photo of the inside of his mouth. As far as his behavior goes, he is acting his usual self and taking care of his hens. :)

I just went to the tractor supply Co. That’s where I got him. They seem to think it’s just a wand and I should try some triple antibiotic ointment for a couple of days to see if that helps.
