My rooster has the crud in his mouth(more info seriouse?)

thanks sammi

could it also be thrush from when i gave him antibiotics in January? I saw a picture similar to what it looked like (thrush in quail) on the Merck site

I gave some vitamins

it might be thrush but canker sounds good too. I had thrush over the summer after a surgery, man that sucked.

Is it maybe crusty at all?? I know that I have raised lambs and every year they get sore mouth and its like big crusty lumps on their mouths, but it does transfer to other animals, including people but it does look a little different with each species. If you treat and nothing works, id say its probably sore mouth, since nothing can help with that.

It is crusty- I just saw a picture of canker and it was pretty yellow but I am going to treat for canker anyway-it never seems like the disease fits the "textbook" exactly LOL

I am going to get iodine in a few minutes, cant find copper sulfate anywhere, and have ordered fishzole through Foy's Pigeon Supplies

EDIT: why do I always think of more right after I post?LOL this is very expensive but I just cant bring myself to the old tried and true method (HATCHET) LOL

canker can often cause a yeast/fungal infection leading to sour crop..

or..if it is a fungal infection from prior use of antibiotics, nystatin can treat it..
foys has it as Medistatin...

are you meaning the terramycin? or did you use some other antibiotic in Jan.?

as mentioned about nutritional deficiency..it can also cause crusty beak.
so..do try the vitamins..and some extra protein..
no grains..feed and a little water cooked oatmeal.

I used Aeureomycin

I am putting vinegar in his water (Is that a good idea?)i dont think he likes the taste

I think I will cook him an egg right now and give a little vitamins (he had some yesterday)
